The Mobile County Democratic Executive Committee (MCDEC) is the official Democratic Party organization for Mobile County, Alabama. We are the local county arm of the Alabama Democratic Party (SDEC – State Democratic Executive Committee), which in turn represents the Democratic National Committee (DNC) at the state level. The MCDEC operates under the authority and direct supervision of the Alabama Democratic Party.

MCDEC members are elected every four years during the Alabama gubernatorial primary. Each of Mobile County's commission districts elects 12 members (6 men and 6 women), and the committee also includes at-large minority and youth members as allocated by the Alabama Democratic Party. In total, approximately 45 or more elected members serve on the MCDEC. When more candidates qualify than there are open seats, the race appears on the primary ballot preceding the November gubernatorial election.

The Mobile County Democratic Executive Committee is charged with two core responsibilities: overseeing local elections to ensure they are conducted fairly, and recruiting, supporting, and electing Democratic candidates to federal, state, and county office in Mobile County, Alabama.

During election years, the committee meets monthly and opens a local headquarters 90 days before the November general election. Alongside our volunteers, we engage in phone banking, poll watching, voter registration, canvassing, human billboards, fundraising, and candidate support. During non-election years, the committee meets at least quarterly, and often every other month.

Meetings are open to the public. You can support the MCDEC by attending our meetings, joining a working committee, volunteering during election cycles, becoming a member, or donating to support Democratic candidates in Mobile County.
